Electrical Technician
Trillium is looking for an Electrical Design Engineering Technician in Libertyville!
This Direct-Hire opportunity is with a custom manufacturer. The qualified candidate will be the hands-on technical resource in the engineering group, the person who keeps photometric data, LED driver programming, and electrical documentation accurate from product development through production.
The ideal candidate is a detail-driven electrical troubleshooter who likes variety: photometric testing one day, a production issue the next, and a returned-fixture investigation after that. If you take ownership of your processes and keep your documentation airtight, this is your kind of role.
If you meet these requirements, we encourage you to Apply Today!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run photometric testing on the Viso goniometer, keep the equipment calibrated and maintained, and coordinate outside testing with Intertek
- Keep IES files, performance tables, and product specification sheets current across the full portfolio, including new product launches and revisions
- Lead LED driver programming across multiple manufacturers and platforms, including Signify, eldoLED (SoloDrive and EcoDrive), Optronics, Moons, ERP, and Lutron, keeping configurations aligned with current IES data and engineering revisions
- Maintain driver programming equipment, software, and configuration records, and standardize the programming process to cut down on errors
- Coordinate new PCA design work with engineering, and build and maintain accurate PCA bills of material in Genius
- Support production on specialized configurations such as sensors and sensor controls, GTD configurations, tunable-white products, and battery and emergency-power options, troubleshooting electrical, driver, controls, and assembly problems as they come up
- Help design engineers build and test prototypes and certification samples, and document what you find
- Build and maintain the centralized wiring schematic library covering the entire product portfolio, so production and technical support can find the right diagram fast
- Serve as the lead engineering resource on RMA investigations of returned luminaires and drivers, identifying failure modes and root causes and recommending corrective and preventive action
- Write and maintain SOPs for photometric testing, equipment operation, and driver programming, and look for ways to reduce recurring errors across engineering processes
Skills:
- Hands-on electrical testing and troubleshooting with electronic components, LED drivers, and lighting controls
- LED driver programming, dimming systems, and controls integration across multiple platforms
- Working knowledge of IES files, photometric performance data, and luminaire specification documentation
- Reading, interpreting, and creating electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
- PCA design coordination, electronic BOM management, and component documentation
- Root-cause analysis and failure investigation on returned product
- Microsoft Office proficiency and disciplined, organized technical documentation
