Civil Engineer

Trillium is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for work on substations in Raleigh, NC!

This Direct-Hire opportunity is seeking a seasoned substation engineer to lead a small team of engineers and CAD designers producing General/Physical Layout and Protection & Control design packages. As the team’s sealing engineer, you will sign off on most of the team’s work while also serving as the primary customer contact and supporting business development with select clients. This position reports to the Divisional Manager.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a licensed engineer who enjoys developing people, standing behind the technical quality of the work, and owning the customer relationship from design through delivery.

Responsibilities:
- Assign and schedule work for your team of junior engineers, designers, and CAD operators, and mentor them as they develop
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, keeping current projects on track, clients satisfied, and an eye on future work and upcoming project plans
- Lead and carry out project design work, from engineering calculations to design software, following established engineering procedures and design manuals
- Produce complex project documents such as specifications and bid packages, and direct others preparing them
- Review and check full plan sets, marking up drawings so the finished plans clearly and accurately convey the design intent
- Seal the majority of the design work produced by the team
- Oversee the work of the division’s Project Engineers I and II and help train them
- Champion a safety-first culture by following company safety standards, policies, and best practices, helping keep employees, clients, and the public safe
- Work comfortably with people at every level of the organization
- Handle other related duties as they come up

Schedule is 1st Shift / Monday - Friday / On-site. Pay is $125,000 - $145,000 annually, DOE.

- Deep working knowledge across substation engineering, including physical layout design, protection and control design, relay settings programming, field support, substation commissioning, and relay testing
- A track record of mentoring engineers and leading a design team
- Comfortable owning customer relationships and pursuing new business
- Skilled with engineering design software and performing design calculations
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Five to ten years of relevant substation engineering experience required
- Licensed Professional Engineer required
- Eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status
