Tool & Die Technician

Trillium Staffing is now seeking Tool & Die Repair / Tool Room Leads on 1st & 2nd Shifts in Warren, MI for a direct-hire placement!

Pay rate is $28 - 36/hour | Exceptional experience may qualify for more. 

1st Shift is Monday - Thursday: 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM and Friday: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM

2nd Shift is Monday - Thursday: 1:30 PM - 12:00 AM and Friday: 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM. Overtime is available.

The company can work with candidates who have specific OT availability, although flexibility may occasionally be needed when production demands require additional coverage.

A growing automotive manufacturing operation is adding experienced Tool & Die professionals to its team. We are looking for skilled Die Repair Technicians, Tool Makers, and Tool Room Leaders who can troubleshoot, repair, modify, and build tooling used in a production environment.

Experience with metal stamping, forming, or extrusion processes is highly valued. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with tooling, solving production issues, and building precision components from engineering drawings.

What You’ll Do
-Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and modify production dies and tooling.
-Support die tryouts, first-piece runs, and production launch activities.
-Investigate tooling and process issues when parts do not meet specifications.
-Perform repairs according to established die maintenance procedures.
-Fabricate and replace tooling components such as punches, buttons, sections, and related die components.
-Machine components to print using conventional tool room equipment.

Operate equipment including:
-Engine lathes
-Milling machines
-Surface grinders
-Radial drills

-Read and work from engineering drawings and documented specifications.
-Assist with tooling changes and modifications required to meet quality standards.
-Communicate tooling or production concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
-Work collaboratively with Tool Room leadership, production supervision, and plant management.
-Follow established safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
-Provide assistance to production or other plant functions when needed.

What We’re Looking For
-2+ years of hands-on tool and die repair, tooling, or metal die experience.
-Automotive manufacturing experience.
-Ability to read and interpret engineering/part drawings.
-Strong shop math skills.
-Comfortable using precision measuring instruments.
-Familiarity with basic SPC concepts.
-Experience machining components to print.
-Ability to safely operate an overhead crane and industrial forklift/Hi-Lo.
-Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
-Ability to work safely and follow established plant procedures.
-Personal tool set required.

Nice-to-Have Experience
-Journeyman Tool & Die credentials.
-Experience with metal stamping, forming, or extrusion.
-Experience leading or mentoring other Tool Room employees.
-Familiarity with automotive quality systems and standards such as IATF/TS-related quality systems and ISO 14001.
