Health & Safety Engineer - 1st Shift

Pay: $75,000–$85,000/year

A well-established aluminum manufacturing company is seeking a Health & Safety Engineer to join its team in Bloomsburg, PA. This is an excellent opportunity for an EHS professional who enjoys working directly in a manufacturing environment and wants to make a measurable impact on workplace safety. The Health & Safety Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to identify hazards, reduce workplace risk, improve safety programs, and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
Reporting to the site EHS Manager, the Health & Safety Engineer will support the day-to-day health and safety functions of a large manufacturing facility. This position will help develop and maintain programs designed to reduce incidents and injuries while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the operation.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who is comfortable working on the manufacturing floor, partnering with employees and leadership, investigating incidents, and identifying practical solutions to improve workplace safety.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain health and safety programs focused on regulatory compliance, hazard reduction, injury prevention, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to implement safety initiatives and achieve site safety goals.
- Analyze injury and incident data to identify trends and assist with targeted injury-reduction efforts.
- Participate in injury and incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective-action recommendations.
- Lead and maintain the facility’s industrial hygiene program, including exposure monitoring, sampling plans, employee exposure records, and hazardous material management.
- Support industrial ventilation programs and help ensure employee exposure levels remain within applicable limits.
- Evaluate, select, and manage personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Assist with internal safety audits and ensure corrective actions are identified, tracked, and completed.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and ensure facility requirements are addressed.
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate health and safety training for employees and leadership.
- Work collaboratively with employees and management to identify, evaluate, eliminate, or minimize workplace hazards.
- Assist with safety incident documentation, root-cause analysis, corrective-action tracking, and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate safety metrics and reporting.
- Support employee-focused safety initiatives and programs designed to improve safety awareness and performance.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current on health and safety practices, regulations, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and applicable health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively with employees and leadership at all levels within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous Occupational Health & Safety experience within a manufacturing operation.
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs.
- Industrial Hygiene experience, including exposure monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience with behavior-based safety or employee engagement safety programs.
- Experience conducting ergonomic assessments.
- Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
- Experience working with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams.
