Trillium Construction is now a Project Estimator in Owensboro, KY for a direct-hire placement!

Our client specializes in custom metal fabrication and they are now hiring an Estimator to work out of their office in Owensboro, KY. This is a direct hire opportunity paying up to $90K depending on experience. The right candidate will have significant experience interpreting customer drawings in order to estimate materials and labor hours required to complete a project. This includes fabrication drawings as well as commercial site and architectural drawings. It is critical for this person to have fabrication experience in order to properly define the necessary materials for the job and the labor hours required to fabricate all assemblies.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:
-Generate project estimates and bids
-Interpret RFQs, customer drawings, specifications, and design requests to compile a full list of requirements and the project scope
-Use the company estimation process to define the inputs required to complete each proposed project: materials, hardware, labor hours by process step, rented equipment, and internally provided equipment for the field.
-Translate the overall fabrication project into the process steps required. Then determine how many labor hours per process step will be needed to complete the project.
-Experience with fabrication is necessary to perform this labor analysis
-Determine if subcontractors will be required and then define their scope and get quotes
-Reach out to material vendors to get quotes for required materials and hardware
-Assist with ordering materials
-Gather multiple estimates for larger projects
-Define which materials will be purchased from each vendor
-Provide buyer with list and required material delivery dates
-Coordinate with shop manager to ensure that shop schedule and material delivery schedules are aligned
-Work with Design Team
-For each project that we win, the estimator must help the design team fully understand the project scope and deliverables
-For custom assemblies that do not have full customer drawings, the estimator must communicate all customer information to the design team
-For field installation work, the estimator must help the field operations manager plan out the project scope and milestones in order to ensure the project is completed within the designated timeframe.

Core Competencies:
-Can interpret fabrication, structural, mechanical, and general contractor drawings
-Solid understanding of fabrication methods, equipment, and production workflow
-Demonstrated skill taking field measurements and verifying information at work sites
-Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
-Strong attention to detail balanced with efficient work practices to get things done with quality and efficiency
-Excellent communication and organizational skills
-Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel) and general office software and computing

Minimum Qualifications:
-5+ years of experience translating design drawings and commercial drawings into a bill of materials
-5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, including sheet metal processing, custom fabrication, and welding methods
-Demonstrated skill and efficiency when doing take-off work from drawings
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel) and in project portfolio management systems
-High school diploma required. Related associate or bachelor’s degree is highly preferred
