Electrical Foreman - Per Diem Offered
Trillium Construction is seeking Relay / Commissioning Foreman near Beaumont, TX for a direct-hire placement!
Key Responsibilities
• Review project electrical drawings and relay settings to ensure all components are ready for commissioning.
• Lead a team of 2-5 commissioning technicians, providing guidance, training, and technical support throughout the project.
• Proactively resolve issues related to insufficient equipment and site materials to avoid delays and ensure smooth project execution.
• Perform visual inspections and equipment checkouts, including the necessary electrical tests, to confirm equipment is installed and functioning correctly.
• Execute pre-energization safety checks, including testing of electrical protective devices, to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Conduct functional testing of relays, RTUs, and other protection equipment to verify proper operation and integration into the system.
• Plan and manage the commissioning activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination with other departments.
• Travel to project sites as needed, with some trips lasting several weeks. High travel periods are planned in advance.
• Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure all safety protocols are followed; stop work if necessary to ensure the safety of personnel and property.
Pay: Up to $68
Per Diem: $165 / day for all 7 days
Schedule: Mon - Sun, 60h+ / week
Qualifications
• Education: Minimum of a 2-year Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls.
• Skills:
o Expertise in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, three-line drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
o Extensive experience testing and commissioning protection equipment and devices (e.g., protective relays, RTUs, breakers, transformers).
o Advanced troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and controls during and post-energization.
o Thorough understanding of electrical hazards (shock, arc flash) and a commitment to industry-standard safety practices.
o Comfortable and efficient in both office and field environments.
o Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute testing and commissioning projects.
Travel Requirements:
• Company truck provided
• Extensive travel is required, with some trips lasting several weeks. Travel schedules are planned in advance, with periods of high travel demand expected.
