Senior CNC Machinist

Join a High-Performance Manufacturing Team Using Industry-Leading CNC Technology in Newark, CA!

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Operator/Programmer with hands-on experience in advanced woodworking machinery, including HOMAG/Weeke CENTATEQ machining centers and HOLZMA panel saw systems. This is a critical role for a technician who thrives in a precision-driven environment, brings strong troubleshooting capability, and takes ownership of both machine performance and production quality.

This position is ideal for a self-sufficient, technical expert who can not only run machines—but optimize, diagnose, and continuously improve them.

What You’ll Do
Advanced Machine Operation
-Set up and run CNC machining centers and panel saws for high-precision cutting, routing, and drilling operations.
-Execute complex production jobs with minimal supervision while maintaining tight tolerances and high throughput.
-Manage tooling, vacuum systems, and material flow to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.

Programming & Optimization
-Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs using WoodWOP, CAD/CAM platforms, or equivalent systems.
-Translate engineering drawings and production specifications into efficient machining strategies.
-Optimize cutting patterns, tool paths, and cycle times to improve yield and reduce cost.

Troubleshooting & Technical Ownership
-Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related machine issues with minimal downtime.
-Interpret machine alarms, control panel diagnostics, and system feedback to identify root causes.
-Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on complex repairs and process improvements.

Material Optimization & Workflow Efficiency
-Utilize optimization software to improve material usage and reduce scrap.
-Leverage Cut Rite (Cut-Rite) or similar optimization software to generate efficient cutting layouts and maximize yield.
-Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and increased productivity.

This positions pays $25 to $30. per hour.  There are 2 shifts.  
2nd shift starts at 2:00 PM and can go to 1 AM.  They are on a 4 x 10 schedule with overtime.

Required Expertise
-Proven experience operating and programming CNC woodworking equipment in a production environment.
-Strong proficiency in CNC programming logic, machine setup, and process optimization.
-Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders with precision.
-Solid understanding of industrial systems, including 3-phase power (208/480V) and machine controls.
-Demonstrated troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electrical, and CNC control systems.

Highly Preferred
-Direct experience with HOMAG, Weeke, HOLZMA, or CENTATEQ systems.
-Proficiency in WoodWOP or similar CNC programming software.
-Experience with Cut Rite (Cut-Rite) or similar panel optimization software strongly preferred.
-Familiarity with PLCs, industrial control panels, and automated manufacturing systems.
-Background in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or process optimization.
