Die Setter
A family orientated metals manufacturing company in Troy, MI is seeking a 1st Shift Die Setter to join their operation! Steady work, supportive team environment, and a company that values its people!
Contract to Hire. Pay: $19 - $21/hr (higher pay considered based on experience). Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:30 AM-4:00 PM (Fridays OFF!).
Overview: Responsible for installing and removing progressive and line dies in stamping presses, setting up coil handling equipment, and ensuring parts are produced correctly from job start to finish. This includes monitoring equipment and assisting with troubleshooting during production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and change over stamping presses from one job to the next
- Install and remove dies and related tooling
- Operate forklift to move dies, materials, and supplies
- Set up and monitor coil handling equipment, feeders, and press controls
- Maintain scrap handling systems and related production equipment
- Ensure die protection systems and sensors are properly set and used
- Assist operators with coil changes and production support
- Support quality checks during setup and production runs
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization in the work area
- Follow all safety procedures for press operation
- Enter basic production and inventory data as needed
- Participate in continuous improvement and efficiency efforts
- Support 5S and workplace organization activities

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Forklift operation experience or ability to become certified
- At least 1 year of experience in metal stamping or press operations
- Basic understanding of stamping equipment such as feeders, coil systems, and press controls
Preferred: Familiarity with advanced press control systems and automated lubrication systems
Skills:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic math skills (fractions and decimals)
- Basic computer skills (Excel preferred)
- Problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for full shift
- Lifting up to 50 lbs
- Work in a manufacturing environment with moving equipment and moderate to high noise levels
