Machine Operator
Tremendous opportunity for an experienced Forming Process Specialist / Machine Operator (IS Specialist) to join a leading glass manufacturer in Chicago Heights, IL!
This is a 6-month contract ONLY role, with a firm end date of September 30, 2026. This position is ideal for a seasoned IS Specialist looking for a well-defined, short-term assignment with immediate impact.
The Forming Process Specialist will work hands-on in the hot end forming department, operating and troubleshooting IS machines, driving defect reduction, and ensuring consistent glass quality across multiple production lines. This role serves as the on-floor subject matter expert, supporting IS operators and maintaining efficient, safe operations throughout the assigned shift.
Pay rate is dependent on experience and will be determined by the hiring manager. $50-$56/hr.
What You’ll Do
-Operate and support multiple IS machines (including 8-section and 10-section machines)
-Perform hands-on troubleshooting, job changes, and timing adjustments
-Drive defect reduction with a focus on Press & Blow and Blow & Blow processes
-Serve as the technical SME for IS operators and production teams
-Support glass quality requirements, including Type 1 and Type 3 glass
-Partner closely with hot end leadership and production support teams

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Need
-5+ years of hands-on IS machine experience in glass container manufacturing (type 1 or type 3)
-Strong background in defect reduction and quality troubleshooting
-Experience with Press & Blow and Blow & Blow forming processes
-Ability to work in a hot, industrial manufacturing environment and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
