Diesel Mechanic
Trillium Drivers is now hiring experienced Generator or Diesel Mechanics in the Houston area!
This role consists of working out of town for about 4 weeks at a time and coming home for 4 weeks Mon-Sun. Morning and night shifts are available depending on the job, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am. Pay is $25-$40/hour plus OT after 40 hours. Hotel or AirBnB is paid for by the company, and you will also receive per diem to help out with food expense.
Key Responsibilities
-Perform preventative maintenance on standby and mobile diesel generators.
-Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
-Utilize computer diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot faults and monitor performance.
-Conduct load bank testing and operational checks.
-Install and commission generators, transfer switches, and associated equipment.
-Respond to scheduled service calls and emergency breakdowns.
-Maintain detailed service reports, work orders, and documentation.
-Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding job status and recommendations.
-Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures.
-Keep service vehicle, tools, and test equipment in clean, safe working condition.

Required Qualifications
-2+ years’ experience as a generator technician, diesel mechanic, or similar role
-Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and controls
-Proficient with computer-based diagnostic tools
-Ability to read wiring diagrams, fault codes, and service manuals
-Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
-Ability to pass background check and drug screening
-Comfortable working independently in the field
-Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience with brands such as Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, Generac, John Deere, MTU
-Experience with ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches)
-Load bank testing experience
-OEM certifications or factory training
-Experience with mobile rental or event power systems
