Senior Fleet Mechanic
Direct Hire Opening with established Fleet for a Senior Fleet Mechanic!
This is an exciting opportunity where an experienced Senior Fleet Mechanic can work hands on while being the technical expert for Junior Mechanics and develop a strong service team for this leading company in Grand Rapids. The goal will be to develop this into a world class service facility and the Sr. Fleet Mechanic will take ownership of the program.
The Sr. Fleet Mechanic will perform hands on work about 50% of the time which will include diagnosing complex maintenance issues for heavy trucks, trailers, containers and heavy equipment, performing preventative maintenance (PM), conducting DOT inspections, repairing/replacing components for truck systems and similar.
Highly complex work may be sent out for 3rd party repair and the Senior Fleet Mechanic will need a high level of technical expertise to determine shop work and outsourced work. The goal is to develop a team of mechanics in house who can handle complex work as well.
The Sr. Fleet Mechanic will also be responsible for taking charge of scheduling, monitoring the CMMS for work orders, tasks, etc., ordering parts, evaluating and selecting vendors, work directly with Jr. Mechanics providing technical guidance and support to include mentoring on diagnostic techniques, repair methods and best practices.
This is the chance for a Sr. Fleet Mechanic with exceptionally strong technical knowledge to work with the Fleet Manager and Operations Manager to develop and lead a strong program!
Pay range will be $38-$45/hr to start with OT and benefits. Schedule will be 7:00am-4:30pm with OT.

To be successful in this role, Sr. Fleet Mechanic will have:
-Minimum 5 years experience as diesel truck/heavy equipment mechanic
-CMMS/fleet mgmt software experience
-Strong technical knowledge and capabilities to include advanced knowledge of diesel engines, brake repair, electrical diagnostics and repair, emissions, hydraulic systems and similar
-Welding experience
-Trailer/Container experience
-Any leadership experience to include training, mentoring, technical SME and similar
-Ability to lift 75-100 lbs with assistance
