SME Mechanical Engineer
Trillium Professional is now seeking a SME – Mechanical Engineer for direct-hire in Phoenix!
Base Salary: $175,000 – $210,000 , annual bonus: 10%. The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Mechanical Engineer provides end-to-end technical ownership of mechanical systems across hyperscale and AI-focused data center projects, from design development and construction through commissioning and long-term operations. This role is intentionally structured to begin within Construction, serving as the mechanical authority during active builds, and then transition into Operations once facilities are commissioned. The SME ensures continuity, knowledge transfer, and long-term reliability by maintaining ownership of mechanical design intent, construction quality, and operational performance throughout the facility lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required).
-10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for mission-critical or large-scale facilities (data centers, industrial plants, energy infrastructure).
-Strong experience supporting both construction execution and ongoing facility operations.
-Deep knowledge of data center cooling and thermal management systems.
-Working knowledge of U.S. and Canadian mechanical codes and standards.
-Willingness and ability to travel to active construction and operational sites.
Preferred Qualifications
-Professional Engineer (PE) license.
-Hyperscale, AI, or high-density data center experience.
-Experience with advanced cooling strategies (high-density air, liquid cooling, hybrid systems).
-Familiarity with commissioning processes, reliability analysis, and energy-efficiency modeling.
