Heat Exchanger Inspector

Trillium Construction is hiring an Air Heater / Heat Exchanger Inspector for our client, a leading provider of air preheater system maintenance, repair, and operations services supporting the power generation, cogeneration, pulp and paper, and cement production industries.

The Inspector is responsible for performing onsite inspections and testing of tubular air heater and heat exchanger systems, including visual inspections, pressure testing, APRIS, Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) testing, borescoping, and tube plugging or sleeving. This role also includes offsite data analysis, reporting, and direct communication with clients. Inspectors represent the company in the field and work closely with plant personnel and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
-Perform onsite inspections and NDT activities at industrial facilities
-Collect UT readings, photographs, measurements, and operational data
-Coordinate and lead inspection crews onsite
-Communicate inspection findings directly with clients
-Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) and final inspection documentation
-Develop tubesheet maps, UT charts, and inspection summaries
-Ensure accurate data organization and timely reporting
-Travel to job sites across the United States as required

Qualifications
-Experience as an Air Heater, Heat Exchanger, or Tubular Air Heater Inspector/Technician
-Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
-Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
-Valid driver’s license
-Ability to travel extensively
-Ability to pass drug, alcohol, and medical screening

Preferred:
-3G/4G welding certification
-CWI and/or ASNT certification
-AutoCAD experience
-Construction or inspection management experience
-In-house training provided.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
-Extensive nationwide travel
-Work performed at power plants, waste-to-energy facilities, pulp and paper mills, and cement plants
-Confined space work and respirator use required
-Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
-Ability to work long shifts (10–12+ hours), including weekends
-Ability to climb stairs, kneel, squat, and work overhead
