Autonomous Vehicle Performance Driver
Trillium Drivers is now seeking Autonomous Vehicle Performance Drivers for direct-hire in Arlington!
The Autonomous Vehicle Performance Driver (AVPD) is a hands-on role focused on the safe, and efficient deployment of self-driving vehicle technology at a high level of performance in real world environments. This position calls for the highest professional standards, executing specialized private and public rides using both production and early-stage software and hardware. The AVPD will meticulously monitor vehicle behavior, deliver a first class rider experience and report findings that contribute directly to the ongoing development of autonomous vehicle platform.
Beyond core driving duties, the AVPD acts as a key mentor and quality assurance specialist for the Operations team. This involves conducting in-vehicle training, performing ride-along quality observations, and offering expert guidance to other Operators. This mentorship and QA function is essential for elevating the team’s professional standards and setting a high benchmark for Autonomous Vehicle Operations.
Essential Responsibilities
-Safely operate an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) setting the benchmark for drivers at May by maintaining the highest safety standards, in both Autonomous and Manual modes and in a variety of complex traffic conditions.
-Contribute directly to data collection and validation of our autonomous vehicles by planning and carrying-out drives in both autonomous and manual mode. This includes both extensive direct hands-on interactions with our vehicles, as well as coordination, planning, and training with our full-time safety drivers.
-Provide general guidance as the overall site subject matter expert on AV driving & human interaction
-Travel as needed to support site launches
Candidates must be flexible, available schedules may vary on day and night shift. Annual salary is $75k/year.
-Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using modern online platforms (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace, Jira) and comfortable operating standard field equipment (laptops, tablets, smartphones) for critical documentation, training, and real-time workflow.
-In-Vehicle Training & Quality Assurance: Ensure standard operating procedures and safety expectations are reinforced, tracked, and documented, including any required retraining or corrective actions.

Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
-3 - 5 or more years of professional driving experience
-Relevant experience in a teaching, training, or mentorship position
-Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for at least 3 years
Desirable Qualifications:
-Previous experience operating Autonomous Vehicles
-Additional driver training e.g. defensive driving, or advanced driver certifications
-3 or more years with a Commercial Drivers license (Class A, B or C) and a clean commercial driving record
Physical Requirements
-Available for off-shift schedules, weekends, holidays
-Comfortable spending extended periods in vehicles during live operations (20–30 hours per week)
-Comfortable to undergo regular drug screening in line with DOT regulations
-Travel Required: Moderate: 11%-25%
