Mechanical Engineer
Seeking temporary Mechanical Engineers to support design and development work on its smart automation systems.
Main industries working with:
-Majority is Aerospace (commercial & military) surface prep and de-paint on aircraft structures, a core market for their systems.
-Wind energy / turbine blades composite surface finishing for blades and other parts (adapted from aerospace practice).
-Defense- military aircraft and related assets that require rigorous surface work.
-Marine & naval - sanding and preparation on ships and submarines.
This is a hands-on on-site role focused on mechanical design, enclosure development, and validation work. Pay rate is $75/hour.
Key Responsibilities
-Design new mechanical parts and assemblies for smart automation systems
-Create SolidWorks models, detailed drawings, and assemblies
-Design and develop the main mechanical enclosure housing electrical and pneumatic components
-Create clear assembly steps, procedures, and documentation
-Test and validate designs to ensure requirements are met
-Design mounting solutions that protect components from vibration and heat
-Ensure designs support serviceability, accessibility, and long-term maintainability
-Use Excel for BOMs, tracking, and basic engineering documentation

Required Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
-Strong, hands-on experience with SolidWorks (daily design work)
-Proficiency with Excel for engineering documentation and tracking
-Experience designing mechanical enclosures and assemblies
-Understanding of vibration, heat mitigation, and mechanical protection strategies
-Ability to work onsite in Rockville, MD
-Comfortable in short-term, fast-paced project environments
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
-Experience designing systems that integrate electrical and pneumatic components
-Background in automation equipment, industrial systems, or aerospace-adjacent products
-Prior experience in project-based or contract engineering roles
-Experience creating assembly instructions and validation documentation
