Automotive Engineer
Trillium Professional is now seeking an Automotive Manufacturing Engineer - Metal Stamping in Shelby Township, MI for a direct-hire, onsite position!
Annual salary is $70,000-$90,000 (based on experience).
About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on the plant floor and understands the realities of high-volume automotive production. This role is deeply hands-on, supporting metal stamping and forming operations from setup through continuous improvement. If you enjoy being close to the process, solving real production challenges, and working directly with tooling and equipment, this role is built for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support and improve metal stamping and forming operations in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Work directly on the shop floor with stamping presses, tooling, and production teams
- Lead manufacturing process improvements related to efficiency, quality, and safety
- Assist with work-cell layouts and manufacturing flow optimization
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues
- Ensure manufacturing engineering activities meet all safety, quality, and environmental standards

Required Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing plant
- At least 5 years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience focused on metal stamping
- Strong background in metal forming processes
- Roll forming experience is a plus
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Deep technical understanding of stamping, metal forming, and related manufacturing processes
- Practical experience with production layouts and manufacturing workflows
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- Basic computer and manufacturing software proficiency
- Minimal travel required (local only, if any)
Physical & Work Environment Expectations:
- Regularly stand or walk for extended periods on the production floor
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions including vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, reaching, and twisting
- Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
Safety & Compliance:
- Promote and enforce safe manufacturing practices on the shop floor and in office areas
- Follow all PPE, safety, health, and environmental policies
- Comply with all applicable QMS, EMS, and ISO standards related to the role
