Grinder
Trillium Staffing is now seeking a skilled OD Grinder/Cylindrical Grinder Operator to join a well-established, long-standing manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented machinist who enjoys precision work and takes pride in producing high-quality components. You’ll work in a clean, organized shop supporting small- to medium-batch production runs (typically 200–5,000 pieces) with tight tolerances and low RMS surface finishes.
In this role, you’ll set up, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of OD grinding equipment—ranging from classic, reliable grinders to upgraded newer-generation machines. If you enjoy hands-on machining, consistency, and solving mechanical challenges, this position offers an excellent environment to further refine your craft.
Contract to hire opportunity. 1st shift, $25 - $28 per hour, based on experience. Hours are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 am to 3:30 pm on Fridays. Saturday OT available but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
-Set up, operate, and troubleshoot OD grinding equipment, including:
— Cincinnati Twin Grip grinders
— Norton grinders (between centers)
— Cincinnati #3 OD Grinder
— Cincinnati #4 OD Grinder
-Perform precision grinding to close tolerances on steel components
-Achieve consistent, low RMS surface finishes for high-performance applications
-Read and interpret blueprints, routings, and quality documentation
-Use micrometers, bore gages, snap gages, and other precision tools to verify accuracy
-Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed to maintain dimensional control
-Conduct in-process inspections and complete required documentation
-Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
-Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality teams, and fellow machinists to meet production goals
Qualifications:
-3+ years of OD grinding experience preferred
-Experience with Cincinnati and Norton grinding equipment
-Strong understanding of grinding wheel selection, dressing, feeds, and speeds
-Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and produce repeatable surface finishes
-Experience in small- to medium-batch manufacturing
-Solid mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
-Ability to work independently and in a team environment
-Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
