Laboratory Technician
Trillium Staffing is hiring a Laboratory Technician to provide standardized laboratory work involved in the operation of the water treatment.
Pay rate is $20 per hour. Schedule is M-F 8-4:30pm. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity!
Responsibilities of Laboratory Technician:
1.Maintains E.P.A. and E.G.L.E. mandated programs of drinking water distribution system sampling, and testing and reporting for bacteriological and disinfectant content using standardized procedures.
2. Recommends changes in treatment based on test results in absence of Chief Chemist, Chemist and Biologist to the Superintendent.
3.Maintains program of bacteriological sampling and testing of process water within the plant in conjunction with the Plant Biologist.
4.Keeps complete and accurate records of tests, including those performed for water main contractors and owners of private wells.
5.Prepares reagents used for routine testing for bacteriological and limited chemical analyses.
6. Checks and calibrates certain laboratory instruments.
7. Assists with Lead and Copper Rule Sampling as required.
8. Performs general housekeeping and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
9. Prepares and maintains certain laboratory equipment
10.Requests supplies and makes repair requests as needed.
11.Maintains Saginaw River sampling and testing programs.
12.Performs limited duties of Chief Chemist, Chemist, and Biologist in their absence.
13.Keeps operating laboratory stocked with prepared reagents.
14. Assists in Water Treatment Plant operations as needed.
15.Responds promptly to inquiries about water quality from the public.
16.Performs related duties as assigned by Chief Chemist and Superintendent.

Requirements:
-Associates Degree with training or experience equivalent to two years of college including course work in chemistry. BA preferred.
Once eligible, must obtain State of Michigan F-4 Operator Certification within (4) test cycles of hire.
-Must have some work experience in a laboratory with Wet Chemistry and Microbiology.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement.
-Ability to demonstrate leadership skills.
-Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner and represent the water plant in the field.
-Must have/maintain a valid State of Michigan Drivers’ License.
