Heavy Equipment Operator - Per Diem Offered

Trillium Construction is seeking an experienced Tier 1 Excavator Operator with a strong background in trenching, benching, sloping, and electrical work support for a project in Johnstown, OH.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hours on machines such as CAT 315–336 and Kobelco 520, and a proven record of working safely and efficiently in excavation and trenching operations up to 20 feet deep.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Operate heavy equipment including CAT 315–336 and Kobelco 520 excavators with precision and efficiency.
•    Perform trenching, benching, and sloping operations in accordance with OSHA trench safety standards.
•    Excavate and backfill trenches for electrical utility installations, ensuring proper egress and trench safety at all times.
•    Set up and manage trench boxes and protective systems for excavations up to 20 feet deep.
•    Coordinate with ground crews and foremen to ensure accuracy of trench alignment, depth, and slope.
•    Conduct pre-operation inspections and report maintenance issues.
•    Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area.
•    Demonstrate reliability and professionalism with consistent attendance and teamwork.

Pay rate is up to $34/hour plus Per Diem: $125 / day for days worked. Schedule: Mon - Sat, 60h+ / week.

Qualifications
•    Minimum 10,000 hours operating Tier 1 excavators (CAT 315–336, Kobelco 520, or equivalent).
•    Proven competence in trenching, benching, and sloping for utility and electrical installations.
•    OSHA 10 certification required; Trench Safety Training strongly preferred.
•    Familiarity with trenching safety standards, egress requirements, and ditch box setup.
•    Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
•    Strong work ethic, safety mindset, and ability to work independently or as part of a crew.

Preferred Skills
•    Experience working around underground electrical utilities.
•    Knowledge of site layout, grading, and blueprint reading.
•    Additional certifications (e.g., Competent Person, Confined Space) a plus.
