Mechanical Project Engineer

Trillium Professional has a direct-hire opportunity in Marshalltown, IA for a Mechanical Project Engineer.

Reporting to the Director of Project Engineering, the successful candidate will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective automated manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Coordinates and supervises manufacturing launches for new or revised products. High energy, a strong sense of curiosity, and hands-on mechanical experience are required. A key requirement for this role is direct experience in closed-die forging processes, including tooling, and process development.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
-Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes and product designs
-Evaluates business cases for new manufacturing processes and product designs, presents recommendations to upper management
-Creates new designs to solve difficult manufacturing problems
-Designs or sources production equipment, robotic systems, and automation equipment
-Applies forging expertise to improve part manufacturability, material flow, and tooling life cycle
-Prepares detailed CAD models and drawings to facilitate fabrication

Qualifications of the Position Include:
-5 years of progressive manufacturing/mechanical engineering experience in a manufactured products environment
-Minimum 3+ years of direct experience with closed-die forging, including tooling, process development, and vendor collaboration
-Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a manufacturing environment
-Experience designing machines and machine components including but not limited to shafts, bearings, motors, frames, fixturing, etc.
-Direct experience with 2 or more of the following manufacturing processes: forging, stamping, casting, welding, machining, assembly, and injection molding
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team orientation
