Machine Shop Manager

Trillium Professional is now seeking a Machine Shop Manager for direct-hire in Phoenix!

Our client is seeking a Machine Shop Manager for their manufacturing in high-performance piston rings and precision components. With over 50 years of expertise in the racing industry, we are now expanding into Aerospace, creating exciting opportunities for skilled professionals to grow with us. The Shop Manager will oversee all day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals are met or exceeded. This role requires strong leadership skills, deep manufacturing knowledge (especially in aerospace), and the ability to drive continuous improvement across multiple departments and shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
-Lead and manage all shop floor operations, including machining, grinding, fabrication, assembly, and finishing.
-Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO, and other applicable aerospace industry quality standards.
-Supervise, coach, and develop a team of production supervisors, technicians, and operators.
-Coordinate and maintain production schedules with planning and engineering to meet customer delivery deadlines.
-Monitor performance metrics (OEE, scrap, downtime, etc.) and implement corrective actions as needed.
-Promote and enforce a strong safety culture; ensure OSHA and internal safety procedures are followed.
-Collaborate with quality, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues.
-Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.
-Manage staffing levels, shift coverage, and cross-training programs to optimize workforce efficiency.
-Ensure equipment maintenance schedules are followed and downtime is minimized.

Qualifications:
-7+ years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role, with at least 3 years in aerospace preferred.
-Strong knowledge of CNC machining, precision manufacturing, and aerospace production processes.
-Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems, NADCAP processes, and aerospace customer audits.
-Proven track record of building and leading high-performing production teams.
-Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle).
-Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and process specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Management, or related field.
-Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).
-Experience with ITAR compliance and government contracting requirements.
