Senior Toolmaker
Trillium Staffing is now seeking a Senior Toolmaker for direct-hire placement in Shelby Township, MI!
Schedule is 6:00am–2:30pm. Pay rate is $33.50–$38.50/hour, depending on experience.
This position is responsible for leading and supporting toolmaking operations, including design, repair, modification, and preventive maintenance of injection molding tools. The role also involves mentoring and developing other Toolmakers and Apprentices while ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency in toolroom operations.
Responsibilities:
- Train, guide, and oversee Toolmakers and Apprentices, assigning tasks and reviewing work
- Establish work priorities and delegate assignments within the toolroom
- Partner with planners to schedule preventive maintenance and tool repairs
- Conduct mold tear downs, cleaning, inspection, replacement of parts, lubrication, and reassembly
- Perform advanced welding and spotting to correct tool issues with minimal supervision
- Maintain and repair manifolds, hot runners, valve gates, pins, heaters, and wiring
- Independently operate equipment such as lathes, mills, boring mills, and surface grinders to create parts and details for tool repairs
- Troubleshoot tooling and manifold issues, determining whether on-press fixes or full toolroom work is required
- Carry out engineering changes and tool repairs using TIG welding, grinders, and other equipment
- Maintain inventory of common replacement components (springs, pins, sleeves, etc.)
- Diagnose and resolve pneumatic and hydraulic issues on tools
- Adjust and fit lifters, manifolds, and other components requiring precision work

Requirements:
- 10 years experience, 12-15 years preferred
- Strong background in metal stamping
