We are seeking an experienced HR Benefits Specialist to join our in-seat Corporate Human Resources team in Kalamazoo, MI.

This role is responsible for administering employee benefits, resolving benefit-related issues, supporting unemployment claims processes, and serving as a key resource for staff questions and compliance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, approachable, and knowledgeable in benefits administration.

Key Responsibilities
-Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit enrollment questions and support.
-Administer and troubleshoot Businessolver, the online benefits platform.
-Audit insurance enrollments and reconcile payroll reports for accuracy.
-Manage Paid Sick Leave reporting, mailings, and recordkeeping.
-Process unemployment claims, respond to determinations, and represent the company in hearings.
-Administer COBRA notifications, ACA reporting, union benefits, and other compliance-driven programs.
-Partner with carriers, brokers, and legal counsel to resolve benefits and unemployment issues.
-Support annual open enrollment by updating materials and assisting with communications.
-Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
-Provide professional and timely communication to employees at all levels.

This is an on-site position working Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. The pay rate is $23–$27/hour.

Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
-Minimum 2 years of HR benefits experience required.
-HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) a plus.
-Prior experience with HRIS or payroll systems preferred.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
-Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
