Trillium Professional is now seeking a Senior Research Administrator in Boston for a direct-hire placement!

Position Overview
-Senior Research Administrator (RA) to join its research administration team. This full-time hybrid role (3 remote, 2 onsite) will provide comprehensive pre- and post-award support to investigators, helping manage a dynamic portfolio of federal and non-federal funding sources.
-You’ll join a collaborative team of three RAs (this role replaces one who’s been in the role for 2+ years) and be one of several Senior RAs supporting departments across the organization.
-Reporting to the Department’s Research Administration Manager, this role demands ownership, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to working with faculty, labs, and central offices.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Award Activities
-Assist faculty and labs with proposal submissions, budget development, and administrative components.
-Coordinate with internal stakeholders and sponsors to ensure timely and compliant submissions.
-Respond to JIT requests, prepare biosketches and other documentation.

Post-Award Administration
-Oversee financial and compliance management for assigned research portfolios.
-Approve and monitor purchasing, spending, and payroll allocations.
-Track milestones, generate reports, and coordinate with PIs on financial strategy.

Operational Support
-Review and approve lab orders, procurement requests, and services based on grant appropriateness.
-Liaise regularly with central offices (e.g., Grants & Contracts, -Research Finance, OGC) to ensure seamless administration.
-Support onboarding/offboarding, job postings, and other HR-related processes tied to funding.

Strategic Involvement
-Help define individual performance goals in coordination with your manager.
-Contribute to annual planning and support departmental research objectives.
-Identify process improvements and support lab efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications
-Experience: 5–10 years of experience in research administration, with deep knowledge of pre- and post-award processes.
-Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
-Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and comfort with electronic grant systems and data tools.
-Collaboration & Communication: Demonstrated success working cross-functionally with labs, faculty, and administrative teams.
-Problem Solving & Ownership: Ability to independently resolve issues, drive initiatives forward, and anticipate PI needs.
-Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with NIH and federal funding policies, compliance requirements, and institutional SOPs.
