HVAC Assembly Technician needed for leading engineering and manufacturing company in Sterling Heights, MI!!
Pay Rate: $25/hour. Schedule is 1st Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a Contract to Hire, 90-120 Days.
A leading engineering and manufacturing company in Sterling Heights is seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join its growing team. This organization designs and builds high-performance systems for specialized vehicle applications and offers a hands-on, fast-paced environment for skilled tradespeople looking to grow their careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, and test heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units used in ruggedized or specialized vehicle platforms.
- Diagnose mechanical and performance issues in HVAC systems and perform repairs or adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards.
- Ensure systems meet all applicable regulations, including those related to refrigerant use and environmental safety.
- Conduct scheduled inspections and perform preventative maintenance to uphold system functionality in accordance with technical specifications.
- Apply welding techniques per industry standards (e.g., AWS B2.2/B2.2M and C3.4/C3.4M) to fabricate and install HVAC assemblies or support components.
- Document all work activities, including assembly steps, test results, and service records, accurately and consistently.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or associate degree in HVAC or a related field preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience assembling or installing HVAC systems, ideally in a manufacturing or government contract setting.
- EPA 608 Certification required (refrigerant handling).
- Welding certifications in AWS B2.2/B2.2M or C3.4/C3.4M preferred.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and HVAC layout diagrams.
- Familiarity with industry or military performance standards related to HVAC system design and function.
