Maintenance Technician
No hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician in Portage, IN!!! (Direct Hire)
A well-established manufacturer in the metals industry is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support operations at its Portage, Indiana facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability and supporting daily production through hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance.

Hourly Wage: $30.00+ (based on relevant experience). Second Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM. Shift differential: $0.35/hour. * Overtime as needed based on production demand.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and equipment needed for repairs and upkeep
- Use technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and specifications to perform repairs
- Assist with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting under the guidance of senior team members
- Help schedule and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Support documentation and data entry tasks related to work orders and system updates (e.g., eMaint)
- Learn how to build and maintain manual parts lists and equipment documentation
- Participate in predictive and preventive maintenance routines
- Collaborate with operations to minimize downtime and identify root causes of recurring issues
- Other duties as assigned; responsibilities may evolve over time

- High school diploma or GED required
- Familiarity with hand tools and ability to use them appropriately
- Ability to perform basic algebra (including fractions, decimals, and conversions)
- Comfortable using a computer for web searches, data entry, email, and scheduling
- Willingness to learn and seek clarification when needed
- Capable of passing a physical exam covering hearing, vision, lifting, and mobility
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work assigned overtime, sometimes with short notice
Preferred:
- Knowledge of PKC and lateral logic systems
- Welding experience
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems
- Understanding of 480V, 3-phase electrical systems
