Trillium Construction is now hiring an Estimator in San Diego, CA.

Our client is a custom home builder in San Diego specializing in remodels, additions, and ADU’s. They are now hiring for an Estimator in San Diego, CA to help take over all Estimates and grow the division. This is a direct hire opportunity with a salary of up $120k plus benefits like M/V/D, PTO, 401k, etc.

Duties:
-Develop and implement all estimating workflows, templates, cost databases, and systems from scratch (using Buildertrend, Excel, and other platforms as needed). -Create highly detailed and precise cost estimates and bid proposals based on completed architectural plans and designer-specified finishes.
-Ensure that bids are competitively priced while maintaining healthy profit margins. The estimator pricing will drive project success and win rate. -Handle multiple estimates simultaneously. We aim to generate many proposals in parallel, and this role must support that volume.
-Communicate effectively with internal project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and third-party designers to obtain accurate pricing and scope clarification.
-Build estimation systems within Buildertrend and other platforms; identify and implement additional tech tools to improve speed and accuracy.
-Source, qualify, and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive and reliable pricing.

Qualifications:
-Proven experience estimating residential high-end construction projects ($200K–$3M range), including remodels, additions, and custom builds -Strong ability to interpret construction plans, finish schedules, and specification sheets -Exceptional analytical skills and detail orientation
– able to build clean, precise, and defensible estimates
-High proficiency in Excel and construction software (Buildertrend or similar preferred) -Ability to manage and prioritize multiple estimates concurrently
-Strong communication and negotiation skills to work with subs, vendors, and internal teams
-Experience building estimating systems and processes from scratch is strongly preferred
-Self-starter and critical thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments -Familiarity with the San Diego construction market (subs, material pricing, permitting landscape)
-Experience working with clients and designers as third parties -Understanding of proposal writing and presentation best practices
