Director of Construction
Trillium Construction is now hiring a Director of Construction in Fredrick, CO.
Our client specializes in solar and they are now hiring for a Director of Construction. This is a direct hire position with a salary of up to $165k depending on experience.
Duties:
-Hiring, Training and Mentoring Project Managers in all aspects of Project Management
-Developing and implementing standard processes and procedures for the Project Management team
-Ensuring compliance with Prime contracts and maintaining strong customer relations
-Maintaining and developing strong vendor relations and negotiating terms and conditions for suppliers and subcontractors
-Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initial contracts and planning to final handover
-Coordinate Project Management resources across the entire portfolio of active projects
-Assist Preconstruction Manager with managing engineering consultants and subcontractors
-Study project documents including contract, scope of work, drawings, and specifications
-Review drawings and perform product take offs. Review and provide feedback to Project Managers on their take offs and process
-Provide feedback to Preconstruction team regarding scope of work, engineering, and closeout requirements
-Procure quotes from vendors and subcontractors for long lead items
-Negotiate subcontracts, purchase orders and vendor agreements
-Assist the pre-construction team with project permitting
-Attend Project handoff meetings to finalize project budgets and review scope of work
-Reconcile budgets before and after upload to Project Management software
-Assist Project Manager and Operations Manager in the project planning and mobilization efforts
-Monitor commodity markets
-Attend weekly Project calls with clients to provide guidance to PMs on an as needed basis
-Hold Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers accountable for completing their job functions
-Provide coverage for Project Managers during PTO requests
-Assist Project Manager with project specific technical due diligence
-Assist with change order negotiations
-Monitor project progress and identify potential risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies
-Ensure all projects meet quality standards
-Review project handover documentation for accuracy prior to upload and assist Project Manager with handover process
-Work with O&M/Commissioning Manager to schedule visits for Commissioning Technician to assist field team with commissioning and troubleshooting
-Ensure the proper personnel is present for commissioning activities including energization and witness testing
-Manage performance testing scopes of work
-Attend project closeout meetings

Qualifications:
-Flexibility to travel from project to project for critical milestones
-Minimum of 5 years of experience
-Minimum 2 years of solar experience
-Maintain a high level of leadership and respect amongst colleagues
-Journeyman level Electrician or higher
-Strong organizational and leadership skills
-Ability to lead a team of project managers and engineers and hold them accountable for completing job functions
-Ability to read detailed drawings and install manuals and perform product take-off and calculations
-Possess necessary communication skills to professionally interface with management and clients
-Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
-Time management
-Works well in a team setting
-Always maintain a professional appearance
