Material Handler

Material handler position available in the Dexter, Michigan area working at our client location who is a leading manufacturer.

The Material Handler position is a contract to hire opportunity with a starting pay rate is $17.00 an hour. Shift time is 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F. This position involves using a floor scrubber on average twice a day in the screw machine department, spinning chips, etc. The candidate must be willing to use the computer and eventually will be trained on the fork lift. Will involve getting dirty due to the type of work in an industrial setting.

Material Handler Duties:
-Operate a fork lift and run floor scrubber
-Janitorial duties, sweep, mop and maintain floors
-Conduct daily maintenance
-Spin chips in manual and automatic chip spinners
-Empty scrap receptacles
-Maintain empty material containers in stock aisle

Requirements:
-Must be safety conscious and mechanically inclined
-Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, able to stand most of the day.
-Ability to take initiative
-Must have a good attendance record
-Must be able to work extended hours on short notice if needed
-Must wear all required PPE
