Industrial Painter

Trillium Professional has a direct hire opportunity in Sterling Heights, MI for an Industrial Painter. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
•    Apply Chemical Agent Resistant Coatings (CARC) to military equipment, vehicles, and systems according to detailed specifications and established procedures.
•    Perform surface preparation including cleaning, sanding, and pretreatments to ensure proper adhesion of coatings.
•    Follow safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilation systems, to ensure a safe working environment.
•    Maintain knowledge of CARC systems and their application, including handling of hazardous materials and working in compliance with military specifications.
•    Inspect coatings for quality, thickness, adhesion, and finish to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
•    Conduct required tests and inspections to verify the quality and durability of the coatings, ensuring that they meet performance standards.
•    Maintain proper records of coating materials used, coating thickness measurements, and inspection results for compliance with quality control standards and government regulations.
•    Work closely with team members, including supervisors, quality control personnel, and engineers, to ensure successful project completion.
•    Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to hazardous materials, environmental impact, and safety.
•    Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members on proper coating techniques and safety standards.

Required Qualifications:
•    High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in industrial coating or a related field preferred.
•    Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial painting with a focus on CARC applications for military or defense-related projects.
•    Thorough understanding of CARC system coatings, their properties, and application techniques.
•    Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, and coating application processes for military-grade equipment and vehicles.
•    Familiarity with the use of industry-standard tools and equipment, including spray guns, airless paint sprayers, and other specialized tools.
•    Experience with protective coatings and environmental controls such as ventilation systems and safety measures for handling hazardous materials.
•    Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and military specifications (MIL-DTL-53072, etc.).
•    Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform inspections and tests to meet stringent quality control standards.
•    Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision.
•    U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required (due to government contracting requirements).
