Safety Manager
Trillium Construction is seeking a Safety Manager with expertise in heavy civil construction for a 1-year assignment with our client in Fayetteville, GA.
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager: The role of an EHS Manager is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment free from recognized hazards, adhering to company, client, and regulatory requirements. This role promotes a culture where employees actively contribute to their safety and that of their colleagues. As a leader in workplace safety, the EHS Manager facilitates safety efforts on project sites and guides all team members in maintaining high safety standards. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Risk Management.
Primary Responsibilities
-Lead and manage the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program at assigned job sites.
-Oversee compliance with company, client, and Federal/State/Local regulatory safety and environmental standards.
-Conduct job site safety observations and inspections to identify hazards, risks, and non-compliance, ensuring timely abatement of identified issues.
-Communicate inspection findings to internal management and client representatives as required.
-Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
-Investigate incidents and injuries, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
-Report incident findings to internal management and client representatives as required.
-Manage workplace injuries and support injury case management for employees.
-Create project-specific safety plans and review subcontractor safety plans to ensure compliance with standards.
-Monitor subcontractor adherence to company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
-Ensure employee compliance with training, certifications, and substance abuse policies.
-Maintain and manage EHS documentation, including Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), and Toolbox Talks.
-Supervise and direct activities of other EHS Managers, including internal staff, third parties, and subcontractors as needed.
-Develop content for and lead project safety meetings.
-Perform necessary inspections and obtain required permits for specific tasks (e.g., confined space, hot work, trenching).
-Procure and manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety supplies, and related equipment.
-Promote safety initiatives, incentives, and recognition programs to engage employees.
-Perform other duties as required.
-This role requires a proactive leader capable of driving a culture of safety and compliance while fostering collaboration among employees and management.

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety, or a related field (preferred).
-OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification or OSHA 510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction (required).
-Additional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) are a plus.
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety management, preferably in heavy civil construction or a related industry.
-Proven ability to implement and manage EHS programs on construction or industrial project sites.
-Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, including hazard recognition and compliance requirements.
-Experience in developing and managing safety plans, conducting EHS training, and performing incident investigations.
-Ability to assess and review subcontractor safety programs to ensure alignment with company and regulatory standards.
-Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
-Proficiency with EHS documentation and tools (e.g., Job Safety Analysis, Toolbox Talks).
