Trillium Technical is now seeking a Safety Performance Engineer for work in Auburn Hills, MI!

The Safety Performance Engineer is responsible for leading all the electrical and HV (High Voltage) safety development activities for the Programs. They are responsible for developing electrical and HV (High Voltage) safety design enablers, identifying / debugging electrical issues for all impact vehicles during vehicle prep and post-test tear down analysis. They will be safety point contact leading all interactions with EE and e-PT groups.

Key Responsibilities:
• This engineer will influence the designs and investigate vehicle electrical and High voltage issues to determine the root cause, issue the appropriate documentation for issue resolution, and lead the team where issue crosses multiple vehicle disciplines.
• Develop preferred safety practices for BEV / PHEV vehicles
• Establish an electrical sign-off process for all impact vehicles to ensure crash tests are run accurately and efficiently
• Interface with. Electrical Engineering, e-Powertrain, Passive safety electronics and other organizations to coordinate electrical issue resolution, keep up to date on current software and hardware levels for the vehicle programs.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of crash test vehicles as problems arise
• Be responsible for physical testing and component testing, planning, vehicle coordination, vehicle build and test prep and execution from concept through launch, including interacting with CAE team for virtual validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
• 3-5 years of vehicle development experience * Two years of safety development * Two years of experience working on BEV / PHEV vehicles
• Experience guiding HV vehicle design enablers using virtual analysis, and physical testing
• Broad knowledge of vehicle regulatory and 3rd party requirements
• Experience dealing with electrical issues
• Strategic thinking, strong leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to summarize and present work
• This position requires some travel to Chelsea.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
• Strategic thinking, strong leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to summarize and present work
• Good presentation skills, problem solving ability
• Good knowledge of vehicle structures
• Good knowledge of fundamental physics and structural engineering principles.
• Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills
• Experience leading teams and solving complex issues
