Controller

Trillium Construction is currently hiring for a CFO/Controller specializing in ground-up construction and tenant improvements for a client in Alpharetta, GA.

Projects range from restaurant buildouts and retail renovations to the design and construction of medical offices. The company is seeking a seasoned financial leader to oversee all financial operations and support continued growth. Annual salary is $125-150k/year.

The CFO/Controller will serve as the financial backbone of the organization, overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and job-cost management. This role requires deep experience in construction accounting, strong knowledge of GAAP, and the ability to partner closely with ownership, operations, and project management. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience within the construction industry and hands-on proficiency with Procore.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
-Provide executive-level financial guidance to ownership and senior leadership.
-Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
-Implement financial strategies that support company growth and profitability.

Accounting & Reporting
-Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, payroll, month-end, and year-end close.
-Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
-Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

Construction Job Cost & Project Support
-Manage job-cost reporting, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and cost-to-complete projections.
-Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate budgeting, billing, and project performance tracking.
-Monitor contract compliance, change orders, lien releases, and insurance requirements.

Process Improvement & Systems
-Utilize Procore for financial workflows, reporting, project accounting, and integration with other systems.
-Evaluate and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies.
-Streamline financial processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

Leadership & Team Management
-Lead and mentor accounting staff, ensuring strong performance across all financial functions.
-Foster a culture of accuracy, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
-Minimum 10 years of experience in construction accounting/finance, with a strong background in general contracting.
-Proven experience in ground-up and tenant improvement project environments.
-Proficient in Procore and knowledgeable in its financial tools and workflows.
-Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction financial controls.
-Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
-Ability to work in-office full time in Alpharetta, GA.
