Trillium Professional is now seeking a Senior Buyer for direct-hire in Plymouth, MI!

Salary up to $100,000 per year.

Under limited direction, leads purchasing department on-going and daily operations, guiding cross-functional teams such as engineering, R&D, quality, sales, program management, and finance to secure critical commodities and components. Focuses on obtaining the best pricing and terms through strategic negotiations, while ensuring full compliance with quality standards, specifications, and production schedules, contributing to the company’s operational excellence and cost-efficiency.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
-Reviews Request for Quotations (RFQs) and confirms details with purchasing group and related cross-functional teams.  
-Submits information internally and checks against projected planning information.  
-Manages reports and summarizes data for reporting and presentation to top leadership.
-Identifies and selects suppliers based on key criteria such as cost, quality, service, and delivery performance.  
-Continuously checks and evaluates against customer needs to ensure
-Conducts in-depth analysis and evaluation of supplier quotes against product drawings and data, preparing comprehensive quote comparisons.
-Leads cost negotiations with suppliers by utilizing detailed cost breakdowns, evaluation insights and future industry forecasts.
-Oversees the issuance of award letters and manages high-value blanket purchase orders (BPOs) for production parts, ensuring accuracy and making strategic revisions as needed to optimize procurement processes.
-Leads the processing of requisitions and spot purchases for critical tooling and check fixtures, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement to support production efficiency.
-Leads and manages annual price reduction (APR) initiatives.
-Takes a proactive leadership role in identifying and resolving quality and/or delivery issues between internal departments and suppliers, ensuring seamless operations and maintaining strong supplier relationships to support organizational objectives.
-Proposes Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) opportunities and coordinates implementation with relevant departments.
-Builds and maintains strong supplier relationships, while continually exploring and developing new supplier partnerships.
-Conducts supplier audits in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team to ensure adherence to standards.
-Prepares and presents purchasing reports, including monthly savings and semi-annual minority supplier reports.
-Actively tracks and evaluates the organization’s utilization of minority-owned businesses, ensuring alignment with diversity goals and fostering strong partnerships that contribute to the company’s and our customer’s supplier diversity initiatives.
-Performs other duties as required.

-Prioritizes and enforces safety for self and others, promoting a strong safety culture in both office and plant settings.
-Encourages team participation in health and safety programs, discourages shortcuts, and ensures consistent enforcement of safety policies.
-Adheres to safe work procedures, including proper use of PPE and work instructions.

Minimum Level of Education & Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Project Management or a related business field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
-8-10+ years of purchasing or related experience, preferably within an automotive manufacturing setting.
-Experience with Japanese manufacturing or a multi-cultural environment is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) or equivalent.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
-Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
-Ability to lead high-level negotiations with strategic partners, vendors, and key stakeholders, driving complex agreements that align with organizational objectives and maximize value. Ensures successful outcomes through influence, relationship management, and a deep understanding of market dynamics and business priorities
-Customer Service and the ability to consistently demonstrate strong commitment to internal and external stakeholders needs, feedback, interests and desires; seeks solutions with a positive approach to prioritizing the work and issues at hand.  Proven ability to negotiate and navigate sometimes sensitive topics.
-Strong team and relationship building skills including conflict management and the ability to work with multiple and sometimes conflicting viewpoints towards mutual respect and understanding. -Ability to delegate and deploy resources, tasks and/or assignments to others cross-functionally.

Travel:
-Requires approximately up to 25% travel, with visits to manufacturing plants, suppliers, and customer locations, as needed. -Travel may include some international locations.
