Product Developer needed in Dallas, OR.
Now hiring for a Product Developer located in the Oregon area at an established food processing facility. Direct hire opportunity. Salary range up to $100,000, based on experience.
Candidate will be responsible for innovation from concept to presentation of finished products. Will work closely with purchasing, sales, accounting, QA, production and upper management to transition customer approved products into a reproducible, safe, high quality and profitable product.
Responsibilities: Conduct research on a variety of processes and/or products and report on results.Identify and test modification of specific product features (i.e. flavor, sweeteners, etc.) to improve quality.
Work with teams within the organization to achieve all goals within given time-frames.
Analyze products or schematics to detect process or material improvements for old and new products. Evaluate products and packaging to determine opportunity for improvements. Extensively document process and materials for creation of old and new products, including quality control. Gain an understanding of customer product requests/requirements and conduct research and development projects to meet these needs.Develops and supports implementation of new products and processes to improve quality and/or efficiency. Provides technical support for Operations, including QA, Engineering and Production.Develops & update procedures and processes to transition from small scale R&D runs to production runs. Participates in on- and off-site Supervisor meetings. Generate ideas for new products and researching feasibility in terms of profitability, resource availability and compliance with regulations.
Quarterly presentation that showcases new products that are ready to be offered to customers. Create a portfolio for each product developed with complete costing and resource requirements. Work with vendors and purchasing on supply, varietal and size options and pricing .Deliver completed costings to sales and accounting departments.
Tracks, documents, analyzes, presents & catalogues important project results.
Maintains R&D records in BMM/GP and SharePoint. Promotes safe working conditions and safe employee practices.

-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and correspondence.
-Ability to speak effectively before employees of the company.
-Must also have strong communication and multitasking skills to relay ideas and work well with other development/manufacturing technicians.
-Skilled with the use of a personal computer to keep accurate files, perform research tasks using the internet, and help conceptualize, design, and build prototypes depending on project requirements.
-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
-Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
-A bachelor’s degree in food science, research analysis, development management, engineering, or a related field is generally required for this position, and prior experience in a relevant work capacity is highly beneficial.
-Industry certifications are also helpful.
-Food Science degree and potentially a Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience.
