Referrals and Their Impact on Your Success /blog/referrals-and-their-impact-on-your-success/ /blog/referrals-and-their-impact-on-your-success/#respond Tue, 19 Feb 2019 15:51:08 +0000 /blog/?p=6176 Continue reading ]]> It’s no surprise that top performers in sales and recruiting tend to utilize and see the value in referrals. The fact of the matter is that prospective clients and customers are more inclined to buy what you’re selling if a friend or colleague can vouch for you. Referrals can be a powerful tool regardless of your industry or what it is you are selling. From selling products and services to filling orders and selling jobs, referrals should be an integral part of any sales strategy.

But don’t take my word for it! Check out these stats to see just how important referrals can be to your bottom line!

  • Customers are 4x more likely to buy when referred by a friend. (Source – Neilsen)

  • 43% of consumers are more likely to buy a new product when learning about it from friends on social media. (Source – Neilsen)

  • About 47% of top performers ask for referrals consistently, versus only 26% of non-top performers. (Source – HubSpot)

  • 73% of executives prefer to work with sales professionals referred by someone they know. (Source – IDC)

  • 32% of buyers post a review on social media. (Source – Avande)

Now, what does all of this mean? Plainly, referrals should never be a last resort. If you are a Recruiter who has a group of hardworking individuals you know you can count on, chances are they know people! These connections can, in turn, result in increasing your pipeline and filling orders. On the other side; if you are a Sales Professional seeking out your next lead, look to your current book of business, first. If you’re providing an exceptional sales and customer service experience to your current clients, they will be much more inclined to spread the word and provide valuable FREE promotion on your behalf!

Simply put, as long as you are continuing to offer a valuable service or product to your current customers, clients, candidates, etc.; the availability of relevant leads through referrals will always be at your fingertips. It is up to you to take advantage of these resources before someone else does!

  • Software developer
  • Java professional
  • Security
  • .NET
  • Software engineer
  • Mobile
  • DevOps
  • Big Data
  • Database administrators
  • Software architect

Continued automation development in medical, automotive, and manufacturing industries have heavily fueled the need for additional technical talent. The growing need and awareness of data and cyber security will continue to help influence the need for Security roles in many industries. The key to finding the right talent for these hard to fill positions is a strong passive recruiting process. In demand talent rarely is on-boarded through traditional recruitment means. Employment branding and company culture are also key players in the attraction of top technical talent.

“I started working under the Trillium umbrella of companies over 9 years ago. With almost unlimited resources due to the nationwide framework of our national offices, it became clear very quickly that Trillium is dedicated to delivering undiluted value to their client’s needs. When you have this level of collaboration with management and throughout an organization, it allows for guided growth and space to improve best practices. I now look at client openings as projects, being able to follow a task from beginning to end with a focus on establishing new normals for the future.  My successes have stemmed from the people that I work with clients and candidates alike. I enjoy educating candidates on the fundamentals of interviewing and preparing them with the company details and materials they need for interviews. I’m proud to say that many of the people I work with say that it has been their best experience working with a recruiter.” – Eric Kronner

Recruiting IT and Engineering Candidates /blog/recruiting-it-and-engineering-candidates/ Fri, 05 Sep 2014 14:26:18 +0000 /blog/?p=2142 Continue reading ]]> What has a shorter shelf life than a package of Oreos at an elementary school? A strong IT or Engineering candidate. The continuously growing demand for experienced and progressive IT and Engineering professionals has put a significant strain on hiring managers across the nation.

it engineers in network server room

The progressive growth in the technology field will continue to boost career opportunities, experts predict for the next several years. With changes in machining innovation and design, Engineers from internship level through management are also sparse on job boards.

Where does this leave you as hiring manager? In a proactive role. An active candidate with a background in IT or Engineering can be in and out of the job market in less than a week! In cities such as Detroit, candidates are entertaining multiple offers at once, making the job offer package a tight competition for talent. So how do you compete? Simple. Attract the passive candidates.

Passive candidates traditionally are at least fairly happy with their current employer and are not likely to be “job hoppers”. It still takes the right compensation and benefits package to attract these candidates, but retaining them may be easier than a candidate who knows that they have several other opportunities. Creating a strong employment brand, a positive and progressive work environment, and offering flexibility will help attract passive candidates to your organization. Referrals will likely account for the largest portion of passive candidates that you receive, if you work your existing network well. Consider offering referral bonuses to current employees or partnering with an industry specialized Recruiter for access to their book of passive candidates.
