Process Engineering Manager—Direct Hire!
Job Description
We currently have an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Process Engineering Manager with heavy experience in a Manufacturing Environment! This individual is responsible for leading the Process Engineering Department and providing engineering expertise in the areas of materials engineering and development. Lead material development and application process for primary resins, additives and coatings.
Daily Responsibilities: • Lead the Process Engineering Team in support of their role to provide process improvement and technical expertise for all company operations. • Collaborate as part of the New Product Development team to develop new products to meet customer and internal specifications and requirements. • Establish and manage statistically capable processes for all production platforms. • Provide technical support to the Purchasing Department to assist with development of procurement strategies for resin and other materials. • Provide project leadership and management expertise for multiple and complex engineering related projects. • Develop strategies and plans for continuous process development and improvements to support improved operational efficiencies, machine/equipment purchases and upgrades and cost reduction. • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional and trade groups. • Coach and mentor process engineer, engineering technicians and process technicians to develop strong technical expertise in all areas related to thermoforming, extrusion, recycling, etc. • Identify new resin, additives and modifiers and other technology or product enhancements to complement existing products and processes. Communicate with resin suppliers to identify new resin grades and evaluate their performance and benefit. • Support troubleshooting, problem identification and problem solving efforts for all company platforms and processes with resources, technical expertise, project management tools and training/education as required. • Keep detailed records and logs of ideas, project progress, testing and developments to document inventorship related to R&D activities. Provide technical and other information to support protection of corporate intellectual property rights. • Support efforts in the areas of ISO certifications, regulatory compliance and other company certifications as they relate to the material development and process engineering functions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Polymer Sciences or related field and more than 7 years of direct manufacturing engineering experience with at least 2 years of leadership/management experience.
Desired Skills: Masters of Science Degree in related field. Hands-on engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferably in the plastics industry. Knowledge of plastic materials, production processes and equipment. Knowledge of business concepts including project costing, forecasting and budgeting. Competent with statistical process control methods and measurement of process capabilities. Ability to train and transfer knowledge to others. Ability to effectively lead and participate on cross-functional teams. Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods, e.g., lean manufacturing, six sigma. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to utilize personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite software for organizing and maintaining data.
