Direct Hire Operations Engineer
Job Description
As the Distribution Center Engineer, you will be a key part of the Technical and Operations team to review existing operational challenges, solutions, continuous improvements, establish procedures, and expand on existing business for this organization. With four Distribution Centers that are part of a stable and growing organization, we are looking for a vibrant, confident and effective member to join our winning team. Primary Responsibilities:
Integral member of the operations team, work with operations, sales and management to identify cost saving initiatives for existing clients and operations • Ability to review existing operations, analyse data, and processes to develop ensure operations are designed as efficient and operating effectively • Develop and design customer solutions with internal and external teams , work with the operations team to track and report productivity effectively • Develop and maintain a operation library of costs, productivity, staffing, etc for a growing network of four facilities • Ability to effectively communicate and work with suppliers and clients within existing budgets • Work with clients to provide continuous cost saving and product improvements to extend current working agreements • Develop and maintain standards and operational metrics with clients then work with the operations team to ensure successful roll out and reporting • Ensure that stakeholders needs and requirements are meet, including regulatory, QA, safety, sales
Qualifications
University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering • Minimum 3-5years operations engineering experience • Previous (WMS) Warehouse Management System experience i.e.; Red Prairie, OMI, Manhattan, JDS, SAP etc • In-depth knowledge and mechanical/electrical application of engineering functions. • Project management skills in the areas of proposal development, project planning, execution, and desired vs. actual outcomes. • Strong statistical analysis skills. • Leadership skills, interpersonal relations skills and good verbal/written communications skills are required. • Incumbent must work well under pressure, be highly motivated, capable of effective time management, and be a team player. • Visual, oral and hand to eye coordination abilities are essential as well as the ability to read, comprehend and administer written policies. • Excellent analytical skills, proficiency at data analysis • Serves as a Technical resource for DC group for identifying sources of variability and implementing corrective actions • Extensive knowledge of: warehouse design, operations, manpower planning, process development, material handling equipment and storage solutions are essential • Strong financial background, ability to read, create and demonstrate ROI calculations and budgets • Ability to work independently and with a group environment • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Excellent communication skills with employees at all levels • Ability to mulit-task, prioritize and handle a variety of complex issues and customer requirements • Ability to establish and effectively manage project management budget and timelines from conception to project completion • Self driven and confident • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time • Lean Management, TQM and Six Sigma training and experience
