Job Description
EE System Cost & Innovation Engineer or Tooling / Cost Engineer Duties: The EE System Tooling and Cost Engineer will work on a team that is responsible for evaluating technical variable cost and tooling cost for new and current production components. Cost responsibilities include PCB tooling / fabrication / processes, plastic molding tools and processes for component housings / connectors / etc.., stamping / forming tools and processes for housings / terminal strips / contacts / connectors / etc. Activities include creating cost breakdown models for components, establishing technical component costs, evaluating supplier part breakdown submissions, establishing tooling not-to-exceed costs, collaborating cost with purchasing and suppliers, conducting cost reviews with purchasing / suppliers / engineering, leading the tool asset verification process, collaborating tooling firm price contracts, verifying tool assets, reviewing RFQ responses, evaluating component cost for product change notices. Support Electrical/Electronic core engineering groups by: 1) providing directional prototype/production piece costs and ED&D as required for target setting; 2) review supplier submitted quotes for prototype/production piece costs and ED&D and negotiate/ resolve any cost issues as required; 3) develop ‘technical’ and ‘bottom-up’ costs in support of the EE core group for various EE components and modules, and integrate into the Fastcar cost tool. MS Office Suite, MS Excel proficiency. 10% travel
Qualifications
* Activity based costing/quoting experience (variable and tooling, experience costing engineer activities a plus)* Minimum of 5 years of automotive electronic experience, 10 years or more preferred* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or similar* Experience with activity based costing &/or quoting experience* In depth understanding of tool build standards* Solid leadership, interpersonal and communication skills* Good Negotiation skills* Excellent program management aptitude.
