Seeking a Weld Engineer with solid experience for a well-established company in the Lansing area.

Job Description

Provides the necessary Weld Engineering skills to support the Company in achieving optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer. 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
•Support the Company’s mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
•Consult with customers to maximize the integrity, efficiency and manufacturability of weld designs.
•Oversee the Development and submission of weld methods and the associated PQR’s and WPS’s in accordance with customer requirements
•Coordinate the qualification, training and compliance program for NDT inspectors
•Provide ongoing training to current weld force
•Provide training and support to production weld inspectors
•Coordinate the activities of the CWI’s and CWIA’s and support personnel
•Participate in internal weld audit activities
•Provide support to the Robotic welding activities
•Provide expertise during trouble shooting activities
•Provide final authority over any disputed weld interpretations
•Provide expertise to customers on new and existing projects
•Assist with quoting activities as request
•Assist with customer activities as requested
•Responsible for adhering to all applicable MIOSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
•Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area (5-S).
•Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering with an understanding of Metallurgy. AWS certified Weld Engineer preferred.
•Minimum of ten (10) years weld manufacturing experience.
•Ability to read and interpret weld drawings and specifications.
•Extensive working knowledge of Welding practices in a diverse range of materials.
•Extensive knowledge of AWS, ISO and other weld specifications.
•Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
•Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
•Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
•Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
•Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
•Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
